Hackathon Start: October 11, 2025, 8:00 AM MST
- We will only allow the first 90 hackers in the door

- Jump into #waitlist on Slack and we'll post there if we have any openings
- We're a nonprofit with a limited budget and want to ensure a high-quality atmosphere with mentors and food - we have found that 90 hackers is the right balance

- Sleeping: From Saturday at 10 PM to Sunday 6 AM all doors will be closed to our facility with security present - it's totally cool if you want to sleep here, or you can go back home, sleep and come back in the morning.

Final Deadline: October 12th at 3:00 PM MST
- All 4-minute demo videos must be uploaded to your DevPost submission - you will need to account for the time it takes you upload your video. Start doing this by 2:30 PM.
- All code must be commtted to GitHub
- Your DevPost project must be updated
- Any team without a video, code, or an updated DevPost project will not be judged - there will be no second chances - we will not reach out to correct this - get this done by 3pm Sunday.

Eligibility
- Open to participants of all skill levels, from students to professionals
- Participants can join individually or as teams (min team size: 2, max: 5 members)
- In-person at ASU Tempe Campus only
- You don't need to be an ASU Student
- Must be at least 18 years old or have parental consent
- By participating, you agree to our code of conduct
Project and Submission Requirements
- Projects must address a specific challenge presented by one of the participating nonprofit organizations
- All code must be original work created during the hackathon period
- Using AI to write code is encouraged - but be prepared to have to debug what you do, most AI solutions cannot build holistic solutions and we've seen students struggle to integrate that code into a production-quality system
- Using open-source libraries (via npm or pip) is also encouraged
- Teams must use our GitHub for version control and submit their repository link
- All code you write will be open-sourced under the MIT License
- A brief (4-minute max) video demo of the project must be submitted
- Projects should include documentation on how to set up and run the solution
- Submissions must include a description of the problem addressed and how the solution helps
- Teams must present their projects to judges during the allocated time slot

Additional prizes may be awarded by sponsor companies for use of specific technologies or platforms.
You must be able 18 years old and able to receive your prize via PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle. You will be responsible for reporting any income to the IRS. If you are under 18, we can send this to your parent.
Judging Criteria and Winner Selection
Projects will be evaluated on a point scale based on the following criteria
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges including tech industry professionals, nonprofit representatives, and Opportunity Hack organizers.
